Four Easy Traditions To Start With Your Kids This Spring
Share

We love a good tradition! After all, Grāmah Baby is built on the idea that traditions are powerful and even better so when we are able to share them with our kids. With the weather getting warmer and general feeling of rising from the slumber of winter into the fresh crisp spring days, here are a few simple traditions that you can easily start with your kids to make this season and every one after filled with core memories.
1. Family gardens
Spring is all about new growth and one of my favorite traditions as my child has gotten older is to do a gardening weekend. We get to go to the nursery, pick out some flowers or vegetables to grow that year, plant them, and watch them grow over the season. My son gets so excited about watering these plants everyday and harvesting the veggies when they are ready. He looks forward to it every year and its a fun way for him to get his hands dirty, learn how to take of something and watch it grow, and it connects us.
2. Saturday morning picnics
Getting outside early on the weekends is key to making our weekends feel smooth and stress free. Grabbing coffees, croissants, and little treats and making a picnic out of it is a Saturday routine we look forward to every spring and summer. Some of our most memorable times have happened on these Saturday mornings.
3. Berry picking
Another one out in nature, getting our hands dirty, and most fun of all, the kids get to see where their favorite snack comes from! Farms are abundant with berries during the spring and summer months which makes for a great family outing. We love that this also teaches our kids where their food comes from, how to harvest it, and best of all eat it straight from the plant.
4. Playing Holi
Holi is an Indian festival that celebrates the start of spring and is traditionally played with colored powders. Its joyful, colorful, and signals the start of the new season. Friends and family gather for this festival, they dance, they play, and its a such a fun tradition to pass on to kids.
The word tradition can feel like a lot of pressure but traditions don't have to be. They can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be because at the end of the day, traditions are about connections and connecting to the people you love.
